Navigating Legal Challenges

Laws and policies are powerful tools for advancing community goals. This training will help you develop the knowledge and skills to craft laws and policies that can withstand legal challenges, identify who has authority to act in your jurisdiction, address legal risks, and strengthen policy solutions.

Register by August 19 for a 10% early bird discount.

This 2-hour training will include:

  • An overview of legal authority — what it is, how to find it, and how to use it
  • A description of the types of laws that different branches of government can create and what laws may work best to achieve your goals
  • An introduction to common legal challenges to laws
  • Hands-on, skill-building activities for navigating and partnering with attorneys on authority, preemption, constitutional, and other legal issues
  • Resources for continued learning and long-term skill development

Our live virtual trainings are designed to improve your legal and policy skills; build authentic, real-time connections between peers that spark insight and growth; and provide practical resources from seasoned facilitators. You also get access to a one-hour follow-up session with ChangeLab attorneys to help you apply learnings to your work.
