Why is this convening important to my work?

Through our work with community leaders, local institutions, and local and state governments, we’ve found that legal and policy barriers often impede efforts to advance shared community goals. Our Accelerating Policy Change regional convenings are designed to connect local changemakers with information to support them in addressing these barriers. We focus on the policy process and how to make effective, lasting improvements in the health and well-being for communities.

What can I expect to gain from the convening?

Through a day of interactive sessions, small-group activities, and inspiring panel discussions, attendees will learn strategies to help them overcome legal and policy barriers to systemic change. They will deepen skills on reading and understanding relevant laws and centering community members throughout the policy process. Attendees will develop action steps so they can immediately apply the material from the convening to work that serves their community.

This convening is also an opportunity for participants to connect with other changemakers in their region, learning from and with each other. After the convening, attendees will receive a certificate of completion and a resource guide that includes links to important resources shared during the day.

Is there any pre-work for this convening?

No pre-work is needed for this convening! We do have some pre-convening assessment questions that are included as part of registration. You may also be interested in watching  The Power of Local & State Solutions, the first webinar in the Accelerating Policy Change series.

What materials and resources will be available for attendees?

On arrival, attendees will be provided with a folder of printed worksheets and other materials to use during the convening sessions.
