Housing Solutions Collaborative

Resources from our work on housing equity with partners around the country

Communities across the United States face many pressing challenges related to housing safety, stability, and affordability. Starting in 2021, ChangeLab Solutions convened eight cross-sector teams of local government practitioners, housing groups, and other advocates from communities around the country to form the Housing Solutions Collaborative (HSC), a peer-learning cohort focused on building capacity and partnerships to advance housing equity.

Although no two communities are exactly alike, the technical assistance and capacity-building supports that ChangeLab staff provided to the HSC community teams often revealed common needs, areas of interest, and opportunities for local housing strategies. Our work supported the teams in developing equity-informed options to aid affordable housing tax incentives, emergency rental and utility assistance, anti-displacement policies, affordable housing production, and strategies for addressing racial inequities in our housing system.

We believe that community stakeholders, housing advocates, and policymakers across the country will find the resources that emerged from the collaborative useful as they work to improve housing conditions, especially for groups with the greatest needs and the least resources. Keep reading to meet the participating partners, view discussions of equitable housing strategies, and read stories from the field.
