Mariam Sossouadouno, JD
Mariam Sossouadouno works as a staff attorney at ChangeLab Solutions, advocating for underprivileged communities with a focus on health equity.
Before her time at ChangeLab, Mariam independently led the Unlawful Detainer (UD) Clinic as a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino, offering vital support to individuals facing eviction. With a strong commitment to budget advocacy in California, Mariam championed protections for childcare providers and low-income families relying on affordable childcare. She provided powerful testimony at budget hearings, tracked essential legislative and budget bills, and actively participated in lobby days to secure these crucial protections from state senators and assembly members.
In her role as an attorney representing foster children in dependency court, Mariam quickly mastered the complexities of the California court system, effectively advocating for vulnerable children. Her dedication extended beyond the courtroom as she fought for her clients’ mental and physical health, housing, and educational needs, shining a light on the often-overlooked Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA2S+ children within the foster system.
Mariam earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco.
