Advancing Law and Policy Change Through Organizational Readiness

Law and policy are powerful methods for advancing organizational health equity goals. This interactive workshop will provide participants with actionable resources that they can utilize to assess their organizational readiness as well as identify next steps in advancing SDOH and equity through law and policy.
 

Carving a Path Forward: Leveraging the Tools of Historical Narrative, Law, and Policy to Advance Health Equity and Racial Justice in Challenging Times

This session will increase the collective capacity of the public health workforce to leverage historical narrative, law, and policy tools in their daily work to advance health equity and racial justice. By combining historical context with modern frameworks and strategies the session will help participants move from conversation to action.
 

Good Governance Meets Public Health: Co-Enforcement as a Path to Restore Trust, Build Cohesion, and Advance Health Equity

Public Health Legal Authority as a Tool for Community Change: A Conversation About Laws and Policies in Theory and in Practice

How can something as dry as “legal authority” lay the hopeful foundation for community transformation, in service of the public’s health? Join ChangeLab Solutions, the Network for Public Health Law, and LHD partners from New Orleans, LA to discuss “good” legal authority, in theory and practice.
 

Equitable Policymaking in Action: How Washington State and Seattle-King County Promote Fairness in Public Health Rulemaking & Other Regulatory Activities

Health departments can engage communities and promote fairness in all of their regulatory activities, from policy development to issuing restaurant permits. This session will identify strategies for informing state-level public health rulemaking, as well as promoting equity in licensing, inspections, and enforcement at the local level, using examples from the Washington State Department of Health. Participants will learn about new resources to assist with engaging in the rulemaking process, and the presentation will conclude with an interactive Q&A and group discussion.
