The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) have released a new publication: A Population Health Workforce to Meet 21st Century Challenges and Opportunities: Proceedings of a Workshop.
This resource summarizes the proceedings and findings of a February 2022 workshop entitled A Population Health Workforce to Meet 21st Century Challenges and Opportunities. The event, which built on a March 2019 workshop, Dialogue About the Workforce for Population Health Improvement, was further informed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of climate change, and recent attention to and expenditure on the public health workforce.

ChangeLab Solutions' Shauneequa Owusu, chief strategy officer, and Becky Johnson, vice president of strategic partnerships, participated in the February 2022 workshop as panelists. Chapter 2 of the publication includes their perspectives on public health workforce capacities, law and policy interventions, health equity, and more.
