Tobacco Laws Affecting California

2018 Guide to Tobacco Regulation

Tobacco Laws Affecting California is a user-friendly guide to laws regulating the sale and marketing of tobacco products as well as exposure to secondhand smoke. The 2018 booklet is a comprehensive update that includes new state laws on the sale and use of cannabis products after the passage and implementation of Proposition 64. It also explains how these new laws interact with existing tobacco and secondhand smoke laws.

In addition to covering new and modified state regulations, the guide includes information on existing California laws related to tobacco use, sales, and marketing. It also highlights new and existing federal laws that apply within California, such as the regulation prohibiting use of combustible tobacco products in public housing units. The guide also describes proposed regulations from the US Food and Drug Administration that would restrict flavored tobacco products and establish standards for nicotine levels in tobacco products.
