Tackling Tobacco in California - Part 1

A webinar series on new laws regulating tobacco sales

Webinar
Tobacco Prevention

California's recently enacted tobacco control laws raised the minimum age for tobacco sales to 21, strengthened regulations on e-cigarettes, and made changes to the state's tobacco retailer licensing program.

This webinar provides an overview of these new state laws and outlines how the changes affect tobacco control work at the local level. Presenters also briefly discuss the final rule the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued to regulate e-cigarette and other tobacco products.

Hosted by ChangeLab Solutions and the American Lung Association in California Center for Tobacco Policy & Organizing, the webinar also examines strategies that coalitions can use to address questions and concerns from local communities. The California Tobacco Control Program discusses the state's implementation of the new laws as well as guidance for local communities.

This webinar is the first in a two-part series on the ins and outs of California’s new tobacco control laws. The second webinar covered the California smokefree workplace law and practical implications for implementation.
